Two giants of tile manufacturing technology – Sacmi and Sit B&T – have led the way in the development of continuous compaction, where rollers – rather than moulds and vertical ram presses – compress the porcelain dust to make today’s XXL format tiles, known in the USA as gauged porcelain panels.
